Glimpses of Esoteric Christianity Part 6

Montreal Theosophy Project: The Three Stages of Christian Mysticism

Here is a question: If, when we are born of God (Born Again) and The Holy Spirit makes a permanent home with us, why do we then have to go ‘seeking’ God in order to be in communion or communication with Him. Why do we have to sit in contemplation (whatever that means) for hours on end in order to communicate with God. Here is what Yashua Anointed (The Lord Jesus Christ) said on this matter:

John 14:18 I will not mystical teachings of jesus leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

There it is in black and white, Yashua Anointed (The Lord Jesus Christ) is in us through His Holy Spirit, and He also states categorically that He will come to us, not the other way round or us seeking Him. Now, if this is the case, and we know that it is because Yashua Anointed said so Himself, why do these mystics feel the need to seek God and which god are they seeking in ignorance? When they say and do these things, what are they telling us? Well that’s easy to answer too; they’re telling us they’re a bunch of deluded con-artists, charlatans, phonies and/or tricksters. If they are seeking a god, it tells us directly that Yashua Anointed (The Lord Jesus Christ) has not made His home with them, so they are devoid of The Holy Spirit – it’s as straight forward as that. As a born of God (Born Again) son of God I don’t have to seek Yashua Anointed (The Lord Jesus Christ), He’s right here with me 24/7, even as I’m writing this article to you now, so what are these mystic types on about?

We’ll answer that by returning to the original questions: what are mystics and what do they do? Or, another question could be, what is their agenda? The answers to these questions are all very simple and the easiest way to answer them is to reveal what mystics are not and what mysticism isn’t.

Is there anyway mystics can be of the Godhead for there are those who call themselves Christian Mystics and who think there is such a thing as Christian Mysticism? Are these people true followers of Yashua Anointed or just silly deceived people? Here’s a clue: mystics ‘contemplate’; mainstream Christians have their ‘quiet times’ where they ‘try and get closer to God’. Spot the difference, if you can.

Are Mystics Sciptural? Well yes and no is the answer to this question. I say no because the words ‘mystic’, ‘mystics’ and ‘mysticism’ are not written in The Holy Scriptures. There is no mention of them by that name in the Holy Scriptures within the King James Bible – none, but are they in there somewhere, by another name, I hear you ask? Oh yes, they’re in there alright!! OK, so if they’re in there, but not by that name, how do we know how to identify them? Easy, wherever The Holy Scriptures shows their shenanigans at work i.e. mystical or magical activities, otherwise known as sorceries, we can then identify them. It’s that simple. Here is an example:

Exodus 7:10-12 And Moses and Aaron went in unto Pharaoh, and they did so as The LORD had commanded: and Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh, and before his servants, and it became a serpent. 11 Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. 12 For they cast down every man his rod, and they became serpents: but Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods.

Here we can see the Power of God in action and the futility of the actions of these sorcerers with their mystical tricks and it is mystical tricks that are their identifying signs. My name for them is “tricksters” and we can see the tricksters in action again in the Holy Scriptures only this time in King Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylon:

Daniel 2:2 Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans (philosophers), for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king.

Here in Daniel we have the story of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream for which he calls on all his mystical men to interpret. The problem is, without the King giving them some idea of what the dream is about, they are at a loss and cannot interpret it. God’s Power, through Daniel and his revelation of the dream, again, shows up the sorcerers for what they are – phonies, charlatans and tricksters. Please read the rest of this informative fascinating story in Daniel 2.

So here we can plainly see these mystics were very active in ancient times as they still are to this day. All the heathen nations with their futile pagan mystery religions of this world (age or system) have mystics, shamans, sorcerers, magicians, enchanters, soothsayers, astrologers, witch-doctors, snake charmers, hypnotists, fortune tellers (false prophets) Tarot card readers, palmists, practitioners of levitation, practitioners of voodoo, practitioners of divination (water diviners), mediums, necromancers or spiritualists. We could even include performers of the Indian rope trick and now we have come full circle and returned to the mystical word: ‘tricks’.
